1. Educational Qualifications

✅ Completion of an osteopathic program with a minimum of 2200 hours of training, including classroom instruction and supervised clinical practice.
✅ The program must cover osteopathic principles, manual therapy techniques, anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, and clinical diagnosis.
✅ The institution must be registered and recognized by an official governing body in Canada or internationally.

2. Professional Competency & Experience

✅ Demonstrated ability to perform osteopathic manual therapy in accordance with OAOP standards.
✅ Experience in clinical practice (for professional-level membership).
✅ A commitment to continuing education and professional development.

3. Ethical & Professional Standards

✅ Agreement to abide by the OAOP Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
✅ Commitment to upholding patient safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
✅ No history of disciplinary action related to professional misconduct or negligence.

4. Required Documentation for Application

📌 Completed OAOP Membership Application Form
📌 Copy of diploma/certificate/transcripts from an accredited osteopathic program
📌 One recent passport-style photograph
📌 Proof of valid professional liability insurance (if applicable)
📌 Any additional documents requested by OAOP for verification

Membership Categories

1. Professional Member (Full Membership)

✔️ Practicing osteopath with a recognized diploma
✔️ Meets education, competency, and ethical standards
✔️ Eligible for membership certificate, insurance benefits, and full access to OAOP resources

2. Student Member

✔️ Currently enrolled in a recognized osteopathic program
✔️ Access to educational resources, networking opportunities, and training discounts
✔️ Not yet eligible for full membership benefits

3. Associate Member

✔️ Professionals in related fields (e.g., physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy) with an interest in osteopathy
✔️ Access to networking events, workshops, and educational content
✔️ Not eligible for professional certification
